Dealing with jetlag can be the biggest blow after spending a week in paradise. And as much as traveling year in and year out, jetlag can still get the best out of me especially the first three days back can be are the hardest. After having traveled and began starting to work, I built myself a routine that has been quite foolproof for the number of times I needed it and it has definitely helped not necessarily requiring four cups of coffee to stay alive. Here are 3 steps to make sure you bounce back from play time to work mode:
- Adjust all the clocks – Don’t look back at what time it could possibly be where you last were. Focus on where you are geographically and just keep reminding yourself and your brain will follow with adjusting back to local time.
- Workout – Aside from working out for mental strength and health, workouts definitely help ease the body back in tone and in rhythm with the circadian rhythm. So next time, after a trip, just head onto an elliptical but don’t push too hard on your body if your body is screaming for rest.
- Listen to your body – Ultimately as much as you can power through with trying to adjust from jetlag, if your body screams rest, make sure you do listen to your body before your recovery time extends itself.
