If you loved Devil Wears Prada as much as I do, you may remember a scene when Anne Hathaway made her way to the St. Regis hotel to meet Simon Baker in the King Cole Bar. As much as King Cole Bar in St. Regis and St. Regis is a legacy in it of itself, very few people know they also have a dining area called, “Astor Court.”
Astor Court, not very far from the lobby seats about roughly less than twenty tables serves a dining menu and occasionally a chef-curated menu, which was what we stumbled upon this recent dining experience. As for this month due to it being Truffle Season, Astor Court serves a chef-curated Black Truffle Menu and my family and I decided to give it a try. Here’s what their dishes consisted and looked like:
Prime Beef Carpaccio Pizzetta
Boursin Cheese, Pepperoncini, Arugula & Black Truffles
Seared Diver Scallops
Yukon Gold Potato Gnocchi, Roasted Wild Mushrooms, Black Truffled Cauliflower & Truffle Vinaigrette
Valhona Chocolate Tart
Salted Caramel, 64% Tainori Valrhona, Chantilly Cream topped with Black Truffles
Unlike last week’s Restaurants N’ Reviews article, this week’s is a whole lot better. Astor Court from start to finish was a pleasant experience. From the minute we met the receptionist till the end of our meal, everyone was very friendly. The chef-curated Black Truffle Menu was prime. Each dish that was paired with black truffle was sublime and brought out the taste and aroma of the black truffle other than the chocolate tart which just tasted quite odd because it didn’t compliment one another. If you’re looking for a quaint restaurant in Midtown East that is not too quiet nor too loud with great service and good food, Astor Court is for you.
