As I said before and I will say it again, New York City is the concrete jungle where dreams are made of and with that said, another of my food dreams has finally come true!

Ever since I had a slice of Wolfgang Puck’s masterpiece CUT in London two years ago, Wolfgang Puck has opened his first New York City steakhouse in Downtown earlier this month. And boy was I more than happy that I was able to make my way there in the midst of the opening madness.

If I were to describe the decor and ambience walking into CUT, it would be: modern classic chic. It had very simple decor that looked like every Upper East Side Hotel Restaurant Bar on one side and on the other side was the dining area which had dark wallpaper and two large paintings that each had a one liner reading: “’Sometimes you know it in your head’ – the chef whispered” and “‘Sometimes you feel it in your stomach…’ She smiled, buzzed.”

As much as those two sentences involved some thought as to why Wolfgang chose those lines, what involved more thought was deciding what to eat. And here are just some of the dishes the fam bam and I ordered off the menu:

Big Eye Tuna Tartare

With Wasabi, Togarashi Crisps, and Tosa Soy

Hand Cut Prime Sirloin Steak Tartare

With Egg Yolk “Jam”, Crisp Beef Tendon

Hamachi Sashimi

With Myoga, Sudachi Citrus, Moro Blood Orange, and Shiso Ponzu

Mosefund Farms Suckling Pig & Crispy Belly

With Empire Apples & Maple-Mustard Vinaigrette

Tasting of New York Sirloin

American Wagyu Snake River Farms, USDA Prime Dry-Aged 35 Days, Japanese Wagyu Beef from Miyazaki Prefecture

Guanaja Chocolate Soufflé

With Whipped Cr ème Fraîche, Roasted Hazelnuts, Gianduja Ice Cream

There’s nothing from my overall experience at CUT New York City that was negative. Despite the various OpenTable comments saying otherwise, I knew that Wolfgang Puck never disappoints. The waiters were extremely friendly and tentative. All the dishes lived up to their expectations and tasted the way they were expected to taste. There’s no other comment I can add other than cut the excuses and make your way Downtown to CUT New York City especially for Wolfgang Puck’s first steakhouse in New York City EVER, good job Puck, good job.
